Universitas Bung Hatta Students Win 3rd Place at IWICME 2025 in Malaysia
Students from the Construction Economics Engineering (TEK) Program of Universitas Bung Hatta achieved Third Place Award – Best Performing Group at the 5th International Workshop on Innovation in Construction Management and Economics (IWICME) 2025. The event was held at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) from 24–29 November 2025.
IWICME is an annual international forum bringing together students, researchers, and industry practitioners in construction management and engineering economics.
Competing as Group 8, the team consisted of six students from multiple universities and countries, including Hafiz Mudia Rahman from Universitas Bung Hatta. The group collaborated intensively throughout the workshop to develop innovative solutions relevant to future construction industry challenges. Participants came from Malaysia, Indonesia, and other countries.
Rector of Universitas Bung Hatta, Prof. Dr. Diana Kartika, expressed high appreciation for the achievement. She stated that the award reflects the global competitiveness and confidence of Universitas Bung Hatta students in international academic forums. “We are proud of Hafiz’s contribution in this cross-university team and his ability to compete at the international level,” she remarked.
The achievement aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through international academic exposure, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by promoting innovation in construction management, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through global collaboration among universities.
This accomplishment serves as a new motivation for Universitas Bung Hatta to continuously encourage student participation in international academic programs and competitions. The university remains committed to strengthening global partnerships and fostering innovative, industry-ready graduates.
