Universitas Bung Hatta Strengthens Collaboration with 11 Guangdong Universities to Advance Global Partnerships
Universitas Bung Hatta reinforced its international engagement by establishing academic collaboration with 11 universities from Guangdong Province, China. The strategic meeting was held at Bung Hatta Convention Hall, Kampus Proklamator I Ulak Karang, on January 22, 2026. This initiative supports the university’s commitment to global academic networking and institutional internationalization.
The collaboration aims to enhance the quality of education, research, and community service while expanding global exposure for students and lecturers. Key programs include student exchange, lecturer exchange, and joint research initiatives. These efforts contribute directly to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting inclusive and internationally connected higher education.
In addition, the partnership aligns with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through cross-border institutional cooperation. By fostering academic mobility and collaborative research, Universitas Bung Hatta strengthens its role in global knowledge exchange. The initiative also opens opportunities for innovation-driven development.
The collaboration is expected to position Universitas Bung Hatta as an Indonesia–China education hub in Sumatra while reinforcing Minangkabau cultural identity through intercultural exchange. This vision supports regional development and global competitiveness simultaneously. It also creates broader academic and socio-cultural impact for West Sumatra.
The initiative is in line with the Padang City Government’s efforts to expand educational cooperation with Guangdong, including scholarship access and potential double degree programs. Through this step, Universitas Bung Hatta continues to expand its international reach and maintain its standing as a leading higher education institution in Indonesia.
