Faculty of Law Universitas Bung Hatta Strengthens Partnership with Class IIA Padang Correctional Institution
The Faculty of Law of Universitas Bung Hatta has officially established a partnership with Class IIA Padang Correctional Institution through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Education, Research, and Community Service on December 16, 2025. The agreement was signed by Dean Dr. Sanidjar Pebrihariati R., S.H., M.H., and Head of the Correctional Institution Junaidi Rison, A.Md.IP., S.H., witnessed by faculty members and prison officials.
This collaboration supports the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education by integrating academic activities with correctional practices. The scope includes legal education programs, joint research in criminal and correctional law, and community service initiatives aimed at improving legal awareness among inmates.
The program contributes directly to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by expanding access to legal knowledge, SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by strengthening the correctional system, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through institutional collaboration. It reflects a shared commitment to advancing a more humanistic and rehabilitation-oriented correctional framework.
Both institutions also agreed to promote capacity building, academic exchanges, and relevant scientific activities aligned with correctional needs. The partnership is expected to enhance human resource development while bridging legal scholarship with practical implementation.
The agreement is set for a three-year period and serves as a foundation for sustainable collaboration. Universitas Bung Hatta views this initiative as a strategic step in reinforcing the role of higher education in national legal development and correctional reform.
