Universitas Bung Hatta Signs MoU with KLH/BPLH to Strengthen Environmental Collaboration in Support of the SDGs

Universitas Bung Hatta continues to expand its national partnerships. Rector Prof. Dr. Diana Kartika was among university leaders across Indonesia who signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment (KLH)/Environmental Control Agency (BPLH) to strengthen cooperation in education, research, and community engagement related to environmental protection and management.

The agreement forms part of a nationwide collaboration to revitalize university environmental study centers, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Prof. Brian Yuliarto, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., Minister of Environment and Head of BPLH Dr. Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, S.Hut., M.P., rectors and vice rectors from universities nationwide, senior officials from KLH–BPLH, directors of environmental study centers, mangrove landscape coordinators, and other invited participants. The event took place at Hotel Gran Melia, Jakarta, on 30 October 2025.

In her remarks, Prof. Diana Kartika emphasized the importance of strengthening synergy between academia and government.

"Through this forum and cooperation, we aim to build stronger collaboration in protecting and managing the environment based on research, scientific studies, and innovation,” she said.

She added that the initiative would also reinforce the role of environmental research centers at Universitas Bung Hatta and other Indonesian universities.

The Rector reaffirmed Universitas Bung Hatta’s commitment to playing an active role in environmental research and innovation, supporting the university’s vision of becoming an impactful institution that contributes meaningfully to sustainable national development.
