Universitas Bung Hatta Rector Symbolically Sends Off 33 Students for Disaster-Responsive KKN 2026

Prof. Dr. Diana Kartika, Rector of Universitas Bung Hatta, symbolically sent off 33 students participating in the Disaster-Responsive Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) 2026 at the Bung Hatta Convention Hall, Proklamator I Campus, on February 2, 2026.

The ceremony marks the start of student service in disaster-prone areas of Kanafarian Anduring, Padang Pariaman Regency. The event was attended by university leaders, LPPM officials, KKN coordinators, field supervisors, and students from multiple faculties.

Rector Prof. Diana Kartika emphasized that the KKN program aligns with Universitas Bung Hatta’s commitment to disaster risk reduction and resilient community development.

"Students are ambassadors of Universitas Bung Hatta in the community. Prioritize safety, uphold the university’s reputation, and collaborate with local government and residents to create tangible impacts in disaster preparedness,” she said.

The Rector also highlighted the importance of applying knowledge, ethics, and social responsibility while in the field. She encouraged students to actively engage in disaster education, risk mapping, evacuation simulations, and post-disaster community assistance. This program contributes directly to SDG,4, 11, and SDG 13.

Dr. Popi Fauziati, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA, Director of LPPM Universitas Bung Hatta, explained that students will implement KKN in priority areas using a Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) approach integrated with community empowerment.

"This program helps local communities strengthen preparedness systems while giving students the opportunity to apply their interdisciplinary knowledge," she said.

Meanwhile, KKN 2026 Committee Chair Dr. Burmawi, S.T., M.Si., added that the one-month program running from February 2 to March 1, 2026, is expected to generate measurable community impact.

"We hope students’ engagement will enhance community resilience and serve as a model for disaster-responsive initiatives in West Sumatra," he concluded.
