Universitas Bung Hatta Joins West Sumatra Ramadan Safari at Masjid Raya Ismael
On February 23, 2026, the Universitas Bung Hatta delegation, represented by Vice Rector III Dr. Zulherman, S.T., M.Sc., participated in the West Sumatra Provincial Ramadan Safari 1447 H at Masjid Raya Ismael, Nagari Campago, V Koto Kampung Dalam, Padang Pariaman.
The team included representatives from government agencies, religious leaders, and university officials. This initiative supports SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by fostering resilient and inclusive local communities.
The team was warmly welcomed by Regent John Kenedy Azis, local community leaders, and mosque congregants. The Safari Ramadan program was conducted with solemnity and devotion, emphasizing community cohesion and spiritual reflection.
During the event, Regent John Kenedy Azis expressed appreciation for the participants and encouraged the community to remain patient and resilient following recent disasters. He highlighted that Ramadan serves as a moment for forgiveness and strengthening social bonds.
As part of the program, the West Sumatra Provincial Government donated IDR 50 million to Masjid Raya Ismael, while civil servants contributed Qur’ans, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs provided cleaning tools. These efforts aim to enhance community well-being and preserve cultural-religious heritage, in line with SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
The collaboration between provincial and local governments, educational institutions like Universitas Bung Hatta, and the local community is expected to reinforce social solidarity and collective resilience. The initiative reflects the university’s commitment to community engagement and sustainable development in disaster-prone areas.
