Universitas Bung Hatta Delivers Disaster Relief Donations to West Sumatra
Universitas Bung Hatta distributed humanitarian aid to communities affected by disasters in West Sumatra, particularly in Nagari Salareh Aia, Palembayan District. The assistance, collected from various donors, was delivered directly to impacted areas mapped by the Mapala Proklamator team, which had been on the ground since the first day of the disaster.
This humanitarian initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), reflecting collaboration among the university’s leadership, foundation boards, student volunteers, and local communities.
The official release of the aid distribution was led by Universitas Bung Hatta Rector Prof. Dr. Diana Kartika, accompanied by Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bung Hatta Education Foundation Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D., Chairman of the Executive Board Prof. Dr. Nizwardi Jalinus, M.Ed., members of the foundation leadership, Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Pasymi, S.T., M.T., Vice Rector II Dr. Fivi Anggraini, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA, and Vice Rector III Dr. Zulherman, S.T.,M.Sc.
The President of the Student Executive Board and a trauma healing team of student volunteers also joined the deployment ceremony at the main campus parking area in Ulak Karang on December 3, 2025.
The aid packages included food supplies, clothing, temporary shelter materials, drinking water, LPG cylinders, medicines, tents, and other emergency necessities, all of which were distributed to evacuation posts identified by the field team to ensure targeted delivery.
Through this initiative, Universitas Bung Hatta reaffirmed its commitment as a socially responsible higher education institution, actively contributing to disaster response and community recovery efforts.
