Universitas Bung Hatta and City University Malaysia Strengthen Academic Program Implementation

Universitas Bung Hatta continues to expand its international network through academic collaboration with City University Malaysia, held on 28 November 2025.

The meeting explored strategic cooperation opportunities in postgraduate programs at the master’s and doctoral levels, visiting lecturer schemes, and joint research in planning and business fields.

This initiative aligns with the institutions’ commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education and SDG 17 on Global Partnerships.

The Universitas Bung Hatta delegation was led by Vice Rector III, Dr. Zulherman, S.T., M.Sc., accompanied by Head of the Planning and Program Development Division at BPP, Fielda Roza, S.T., M.T., and Construction Economics Engineering lecturer Sesmiwati, BQS, M.T.

They were welcomed by Executive Director of City University Malaysia, Prof. Hew Moi Lan, and Dean of the Faculty of Nursing & Allied Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Syarifah.

Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to broadening access for Universitas Bung Hatta lecturers and students pursuing further studies at City University Malaysia, particularly in strategic planning, business management, and construction sector development—contributing to SDG 9 on innovation and research-driven industrial capacity.

Faculty mobility through visiting lecturer programs was also a key topic, along with the formulation of collaborative research agendas aligned with development priorities in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Dr. Zulherman emphasized that the partnership represents a strategic step toward accelerating campus internationalization.

"Collaboration with City University Malaysia provides significant opportunities to enhance the quality of the university’s tridharma, especially in human resource development, research, and strengthening academic competencies at the global level," he said.

He added that the initiative reinforces Universitas Bung Hatta’s commitment to delivering globally competitive higher education with tangible contributions to sustainable development.
