TRKJ Students of Universitas Bung Hatta and MIIT UniKL Deliver Humanitarian Aid to Flood Victims in Padang

Students of the Computer Network Engineering Technology (TRKJ) Program at Universitas Bung Hatta, together with delegates from the Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (MIIT), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), distributed humanitarian aid to victims of flash floods and landslides in Lubuk Minturun, Padang, on 29 November 2025.

The initiative was part of the International Leadership Camp 2025 and reflected cross-border collaboration in social action. The activity contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The students handed over essential supplies directly to affected residents and engaged in dialogue to identify urgent follow-up needs. This direct interaction allowed both institutions to better understand community priorities during the recovery phase. The program emphasized responsive and community-based humanitarian support.

Zulfadli, S.Kom., M.Sc., Head of the TRKJ Program at Universitas Bung Hatta, expressed appreciation for the students’ commitment. He stated that the initiative was not merely about donations but about cultivating empathy, leadership, and social responsibility. According to him, higher education institutions play a vital role in accelerating post-disaster recovery through meaningful engagement.

Puan Aruna Azariah Rajendram, Head of International Partnership at Universiti Kuala Lumpur, highlighted that the activity formed an integral part of their international community service agenda in Padang. She noted that solidarity transcends national boundaries and that the collaboration strengthened the friendship between UniKL and Universitas Bung Hatta. The experience also provided valuable insights into community resilience and social dynamics in disaster-affected areas.

The donation program marked a meaningful conclusion to the International Leadership Camp 2025. Beyond humanitarian assistance, the initiative reinforced international academic partnerships and demonstrated how student collaboration can generate tangible social impact.
