The Faculty of Economics and Business at Bung Hatta University aligns the campus world with the industrial world with the West Sumatra Regional Pelindo
The Faculty of Economics and Business at Bung Hatta University and the West Sumatra Regional Port Authority (Pelindo) continue to strengthen synergies between academia and industry. This was discussed in a meeting held in the FEB Meeting Room, Campus II, Bung Hatta University, on October 7, 2025.
The meeting was attended by FEB leaders and representatives, as well as members of the West Sumatra Regional Port Authority (Pelindo) management team, including Satriyo Agung Nugroho, Junior Manager of Human Resources, General Affairs, and KBL, along with Fachruddin Arrazi and Friska Olivia, Acting Heads of Human Resources, General Affairs, and KBL.
During the discussion, the two parties discussed various collaboration opportunities, including student internship programs, public lectures, and guest lectures by practitioners, applied research, community service, and possible collaboration on CSR or environmental development programs in the port sector.
The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Bung Hatta University, Dr. Erni Febrina Harahap, S.E.,M.Si, stated that this collaboration represents a concrete step toward realizing the link and match concept between higher education and the professional world, as advocated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. She emphasized that hands-on experience in industry is crucial for students to strengthen their competencies and prepare for the job market.
"Students need to gain hands-on experience in the workplace to better prepare them for global challenges. Pelindo is a strategic partner for the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) because it has a broad business ecosystem relevant to the students' fields of study," said Dr. Erni.
Pelindo's West Sumatra Regional Office welcomed this collaborative initiative. They believe that the presence of student interns not only provides learning benefits for students but also supports operational activities and the development of innovation within the company.
"We are opening up collaboration opportunities for universities to jointly prepare superior human resources in the port and logistics sector. Three Management students have already participated in independent internships at Pelindo West Sumatra, and their contributions have been positively felt," said Satriyo Agung Nugroho, S.Psi.
He added that Pelindo is ready to continue and expand its collaboration with other faculties and study programs within Bung Hatta University.
By strengthening and expanding this collaboration, students will not only gain practical experience in the industrial world but also contribute to advancing the maritime and logistics sector in West Sumatra.
