Strengthening Collaborative Networks, the Faculty of Industrial Technology Conducts an Industrial Visit to PT. TOA
The Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI), Universitas Bung Hatta, continues to build and strengthen collaborations with various industrial partners. One of these efforts was a visit to PT TOA Galva Industries in Cimanggis, Depok City, on December 4, 2024.
The visiting delegation consisted of Ir. Ayu Bidiawati, S.T., M.T. (Vice Dean of FTI), Dr. Firdaus, S.T., M.T. (Head of the Chemical Engineering Study Program), Dessi Mufti, S.T., M.T. (Secretary of the Industrial Engineering Study Program), Mirza Zoni, S.T., M.T. (Secretary of the Electrical Engineering Study Program), and Dr. Yulcherlina, S.T.,M.Sc. (lecturer from the Civil Engineering Study Program).
Vice Dean Ayu Bidiawati stated that the visit to PT TOA aimed to develop and expand partnership networks with the industrial sector. In addition to exploring industrial internship opportunities for students of the Faculty of Industrial Technology, the visit also sought to develop practitioner lecture programs and promote the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) class for employees who are Diploma or high school/vocational school graduates.
Ayu explained that the industrial internship program provides a credit equivalence of 20 credits (SKS). She hopes this initiative will open opportunities for students to conduct research based on real industrial problems encountered in the factory. Drawing from her experience as an RPL student supervisor, she emphasized the importance of practical, industry-oriented learning.
The FTI lecturer team also expressed their enthusiasm, noting that supervising student research focused on real industrial challenges is a rewarding experience that allows them to contribute directly to the industrial sector.
Meanwhile, Asep Saleh, Director of PT TOA Galva Industries, welcomed the visit and appreciated the initiatives presented by the Universitas Bung Hatta delegation. He mentioned that the PT TOA management team would soon follow up on the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) prepared by Universitas Bung Hatta.
During the visit, the FTI delegation was given a tour of the factory, observing the manufacturing process from component production to assembly, which results in various TOA products for both local and export markets. The tour also included a visit to the soundproof testing room for speaker product quality testing.
Through this industrial visit, both parties expressed hope that the partnership will continue to develop productively and bring mutual benefits to both institutions.
