PT. Semen Padang's TJSL Program for Dry Fish Conservation Collaborates with LPPM Bung Hatta University
PT Semen Padang and Bung Hatta University Strengthen Collaboration on Garing Fish Conservation At Wisma Indarung PT Semen Padang on February 22, 2024. PT Semen Padang signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of Bung Hatta University, along with a number of other stakeholders, in the context of implementing the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.
The PKS signed by the Director of PT Semen Padang and LPPM Bung Hatta University is related to the dry-fish conservation program, and was also witnessed by the Director of Finance & General Affairs of PT Semen Padang Oktoweri, Vice Chancellor I of Bung Hatta University Prof. Dr. Hendra Suherman, and fisheries expert of Bung Hatta University Prof. Dr. Hafrijal Syandri, M.S.
Dr. Azrita, S.Pi.,M.Si Director of LPPM Universitas Bung Hatta stated that this collaboration is a continuation of the synergy between LPPM Universitas Bung Hatta and PT Semen Padang, as well as a concrete step in implementing the three pillars of higher education.
He added that the collaboration focuses on fisheries, particularly the conservation of the endemic bilih fish which has been ongoing since 2018. The program has received five national awards, including:
• Indonesia Sustainable Development Goals Award in the Gold category from the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas (2022);
• Padmamitra Award in the Environmental Conservation and Biodiversity category from the Indonesian CSR Forum (2022);
• Environmental and Social Innovation Award (ENSIA) in the Gold category from PT Sucofindo (2023);
• Soebroto Award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (2023);
• and Proper Gold from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (2023).
According to Dr. Azrita, the bilih fish rescue program that was previously running was led directly by Prof. Dr. Hafrijal Syandri, M.S and in 2024nthis will be continued with the garing fish (Tor) conservation program another important species in the Ring I area of PT Semen Padang.
Universitas Bung Hatta continues to make tangible contributions in addressing national environmental challenges by actively participating and committing to ecological conservation and sustainable development in Indonesia.
