PKKM Workshop of the Primary School Teacher Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Bung Hatta
Universitas Bung Hatta, through its Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), particularly the Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD) Study Program, successfully conducted a highly strategic academic activity aimed at enhancing the quality of education. On Tuesday, June 12, 2024, a workshop entitled “Development of Digitalized Curriculum Devices Based on the Case Method and Team-Based Project” was held at ZHM Premiere Hotel. This event represented a tangible manifestation of the institution’s commitment to addressing the challenges of digital transformation in the education sector, while also responding to the government’s policy on the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) framework.
The workshop was officially opened by the Dean of FKIP Universitas Bung Hatta, Dr. Yetty Morelent, M.Hum., who, in her opening remarks, emphasized the importance of technological adaptation in modern education. This event formed an integral part of the Kampus Merdeka Competition Program (PK-KM) of PGSD FKIP Universitas Bung Hatta for the year 2024, an initiative launched by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Ditjen Diktiristek), Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
The PK-KM Program is an innovative higher education policy designed to foster comprehensive transformation within Indonesian universities. It is structured as an open competition using a tiered selection system, which takes into account key factors such as the number of active students, institutional accreditation status, and geographical distribution. This selection framework ensures fairness and equal opportunity for all higher education institutions across the nation.
The PK-KM encompasses a wide scope of initiatives, extending beyond the study program level to institutional-level programs. At the institutional level, the program primarily focuses on building a robust Institutional Support System (ISS)–MBKM, aimed at strengthening the management and implementation of Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka. This approach reflects the government’s strong commitment to developing a higher education ecosystem that is more flexible, innovative, and responsive to the demands of the modern era.
At the study program level, the PK-KM has highly strategic and noble objectives. It seeks to enhance the quality, relevance, and innovation of higher education, enabling programs to anticipate and respond effectively to advances in science, technology, and the arts (IPTEKS). These improvements are tailored to the unique strengths of each study program while reinforcing collaboration with industry partners (DUDI) and top world-class universities. Such partnerships are key to achieving international recognition and increasing the global competitiveness of Indonesian higher education institutions.
The one-day workshop carried the theme “Development of Digitalized Curriculum Devices Based on the Case Method and Team-Based Project”, a theme carefully selected to address the pressing needs of digital transformation in education. It also integrated innovative learning methodologies proven to enhance students’ competencies and engagement.
As the keynote speaker, the organizing committee invited Farid Ahmadi, S.Kom., M.Kom., Ph.D., an expert from Universitas Negeri Semarang, renowned for his expertise in educational technology and extensive experience in implementing learning innovations across higher education institutions. His participation was expected to provide in-depth and practical insights for lecturers attending the workshop.
The workshop was designed to be highly interactive, ensuring optimal knowledge transfer. Rather than merely delivering theoretical material, the speaker engaged directly with participants through practical mentoring sessions, guiding them in developing digital learning media and instructional materials. This hands-on approach was one of the workshop’s key strengths, as each participant was encouraged to design learning tools relevant to their respective courses.
During the workshop, Dr. Farid Ahmadi presented comprehensive and highly relevant materials addressing various aspects of digital learning transformation, including the design, integration, and implementation of case-based and project-based instructional strategies.
Overall, the Workshop on the Development of Digitalized Curriculum Devices Based on the Case Method and Team-Based Project, organized by the PGSD Study Program of FKIP Universitas Bung Hatta, represents a strategic and visionary step in confronting the digital transformation era in education. This activity not only aligns with the government’s PK-KM initiative, but also directly addresses the evolving needs of the educational landscape—bridging policy, practice, and innovation in pursuit of high-quality, future-ready learning.
