LPPM Universitas Bung Hatta Holds AI Optimization Workshop to Strengthen Academic Capacity
The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Universitas Bung Hatta organized a workshop titled “Optimizing AI for Academic Activities” at Bung Hatta Convention Hall, Campus 1 Ulak Karang, on December 9, 2025.
The program supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing digital literacy and academic competence among lecturers. It also contributes to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through the integration of emerging technologies in higher education.
The workshop was chaired by Dr. Amelia Sriwahyuni Lubis, Head of Research Division at LPPM, and featured Dr. Henry Nasution and Purbo Jadmiko, SE., MSc as keynote speakers. A total of 76 lecturers from across Universitas Bung Hatta participated in the program. The sessions focused on the effective and ethical use of artificial intelligence in academic work.
The initiative aimed to strengthen lecturers’ capacity in utilizing AI tools for drafting research proposals, scientific publications, and community service (PKM) proposals. Participants were guided on how AI can accelerate academic writing processes without compromising analytical depth and research quality. The workshop emphasized responsible and critical use of AI in scholarly activities.
In his opening remarks, Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Pasymi, S.T., M.T. highlighted that BIMA Kemdiktisaintek has opened research and PKM grant schemes for 2026 funding. He noted that the wide range of available schemes offers significant opportunities for lecturers to secure competitive grants. He stressed that mastering AI tools is increasingly relevant to meet current academic demands.
Through this workshop, LPPM Universitas Bung Hatta reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening research productivity and innovation capacity among its academic community. The program reflects the university’s strategic effort to adapt to technological advancement while maintaining academic integrity. It also reinforces collaborative and forward-looking academic development aligned with global sustainability
