LPPM Universitas Bung Hatta and Regional Office of Ministry of Law Strengthen Intellectual Property and Patent Collaboration
LPPM Universitas Bung Hatta received an official visit from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law of West Sumatra on January 21, 2026, to enhance coordination and cooperation in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and patent management.
The meeting marked a strategic step in strengthening synergy between higher education institutions and government in protecting research and community service outputs. This initiative supports SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The delegation was led by Lista Widyaastuti, S.H., M.H., Head of the Legal Services Division, accompanied by Muhammad Farhan, S.Sos., M.H., Junior Intellectual Property Analyst, and their team. They emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration in improving intellectual property governance within universities.
Director of LPPM Universitas Bung Hatta, Dr. Popi Fauziati, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA, expressed appreciation for the visit and the Ministry’s commitment to supporting academic innovation. She stated that the partnership is essential to ensure adequate legal protection for research and community service results produced by lecturers and students, while also enhancing competitiveness and innovation downstreaming.
The program aimed to strengthen institutional capacity in managing, registering, and protecting IPR and patents. The socialization session covered registration procedures, strategies to improve document quality, and the strategic value of patents as instruments of innovation protection.
Through this collaboration, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to building a sustainable research and innovation ecosystem.
