Japanese Literature Lecturers of Universitas Bung Hatta Introduce the Likari App to Support Japanese Language Learning at SMAN 7 Padang
Lecturers and students of Japanese Literature of Bung Hatta University introduced the Likari app as a Japanese language learning aid through a training session on how to use the Likari app to support Japanese vocabulary learning for students at SMAN 7 Padang on August 1, 2024.
The training, held in a classroom of SMAN 7 Padang, was attended by 31 participants, including subject teachers, PL students, and students in the Japanese mobile class.
This training was part of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Higher Education) program, which involves lecturers and students in the form of community service (PKM). The program was chaired by Prof. Diana Kartika, with members Syahrial, S.S., M.Hum., Eduardus Agusli, S.S., M.Si, Dedi Supendra, S.Pd., M.A., and five students from the Japanese Literature Study Program of Universitas Bung Hatta, namely Azmi Arsysuci P, Husni Yatun Aini S, Evodius Ki Ageng P, Muhammad Fikri, and Fidiah Elfi Yosi.
This community service activity presented development of the Likari application's by Prof. Diana Kartika, Japanese vocabulary learning materials using the Likari application by Syahrial, S.S., M.Hum. and Eduardus Agusli, S.S.,M.Si, and materials on the Likari application's features and steps for using the application by Bayu Haryanto, S.T.,M.Si and Rizki Amauli, S.Hum.
The PKM Team Leader, Prof. Diana Kartika explained that this activity aims to help students learn Japanese in a more interactive and enjoyable way. The Likari application is the result of research funded by a 2023 grant from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
Prof. Diana Kartika mentioned "The Likari application is a Japanese language learning tool using the Likari method, which involves memorizing five vocabulary words a day. This Likari method was developed as an application to be easy to use, contemporary, interactive, and attractive,".
During the training session, students were encouraged to try out the Likari application. After completing the training, participants downloaded the application from the Play Store and began learning vocabulary independently. They could then test their vocabulary skills in the Likari application by trying the Quiz feature.
Ozra Qadratul Meizarlani, a 12th-grade Japanese student at SMAN 7 Padang, explained that the Likari application has a rich vocabulary, helping students understand vocabulary. The Likari application also has an interesting and exciting Quiz feature. "Learning Japanese is more fun with Likari. I can study anytime and anywhere. The features are very helpful," he said.
Aditia Andika Saputra, a 12th-grade Japanese student at SMAN 7 Padang, said that this was his first time learning about the Likari app and that it was excellent for helping students learn Japanese. After using the app, he discovered a wide range of vocabulary and interesting features for learning Japanese.
Rut Adelina, a Japanese Language Program student at SMAN 7 Padang, described the Likari app as excellent and engaging for students in learning Japanese vocabulary. Besides its comprehensive features, the app's attractive appearance also encourages students to study Japanese vocabulary every day.
The principal of SMAN 7 Padang, Yuni Era HM., S.Pd.,M.Si, welcomed the community service activity at SMAN 7 Padang, as it helps students learn Japanese better and achieve success in the future.
"Hopefully, this activity won't stop with this training; there will be follow-up activities in different areas. Regarding Japanese, many students at SMAN 7 Padang are interested in it, even leading to the creation of films," he said.
This community service activity is expected to significantly benefit SMAN 7 Padang in improving its students' foreign language skills. By using the Likari app, it is hoped that students will more easily master Japanese and be better equipped for their future.
