Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (Pindo) of FKIP UBH Holds FGD on POB Implementation for Independent MBKM
The Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (Pindo), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Bung Hatta University (UBH), held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) at ZHM Premier Hotel Padang on Saturday, November 2, 2024. This activity is part of a series of supporting programs for the Independent Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (Independent MBKM), initiated by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) in 2024.
The event was officially opened by the Dean of FKIP UBH, Dr. Yetty Morelent, M.Hum., who stated that the program’s achievement in obtaining funding assistance reflects a strong commitment to curriculum development. She emphasized that adapting the curriculum to the dynamics of the times is essential to produce high-quality graduates in accordance with the provisions of Permendikbudristek No. 53 of 2023.
According to the regulation, graduates are expected to possess four key capabilities: a deep understanding of science and technology; general competencies relevant to the workforce; knowledge and skills to compete in the job market, including professional certification; and the ability to think critically and independently, with a spirit of lifelong learning.
Head of the Pindo Study Program, Rio Rinaldi, M.Pd., added that graduate outcomes are now also aligned with the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), while Permendikbudristek No. 53 of 2023 provides a more comprehensive framework that includes readiness to face global challenges. The program’s academic vision is in line with this direction—developing the science of language, literature, and its pedagogy within an Indonesian context, grounded in local wisdom and technological innovation.
The event featured speakers including Prof. Dr. Pasymi, S.T., M.T. (Vice Rector I of UBH) and Dr. Syukma Netti,M.Si. (UBH MBKM Coordinator). It was also attended by lecturers from the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, as well as representatives from partner institutions such as PT Semen Padang, SMA N 1 Ranah Batahan, and the Theater Arts Study Program, Faculty of Performing Arts, ISI Padangpanjang.
This activity served as an important momentum in designing a curriculum that is adaptive, inclusive, and ready to face the transformations of 21st-century education.
