Hundreds of School Principals Attend Higher Education Readiness Seminar at Universitas Bung Hatta
Universitas Bung Hatta, in collaboration with the West Sumatra Provincial Education Office, hosted a seminar on strategies for passing public university entrance exams (SNBT, SNBP, and independent selection) at Bung Hatta Convention Hall, Campus 1, on January 31, 2026. The event was attended by hundreds of school principals and guidance counselors from across West Sumatra. The seminar aimed to strengthen school leadership in preparing students for higher education access, aligning with SDG 4: Quality Education.
The keynote speakers included Prof. Dr. Eduart Wolok, Head of the SNPMB Supervisory Team, Habibul Fuadi, S.Pd., M.Si., Head of the Provincial Education Office, and Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D., Chairman of the SNPMB Supervisory Team 2002–2004. They discussed principles, quotas, schedules, and strategies for national selection and emphasized the vital role of schools in supporting student success.
Prof. Dr. Diana Kartika, Rector of Universitas Bung Hatta, highlighted that academic readiness, literacy, reasoning, and understanding selection systems are crucial for student success. She stressed that collaboration between universities and secondary schools is key to creating a sustainable education ecosystem.
"Principals and teachers are essential guides to ensure students prepare effectively and with integrity,” she added.
Prof. Ganefri presented Universitas Bung Hatta’s achievements, including being one of 26 higher education institutions in Sumatra with “Excellent” accreditation. He emphasized that quality education requires strong institutional management, relevant curricula, and graduate employability. He also highlighted the university’s preparation for new programs, such as the Faculty of Medicine and vocational studies in renewable energy, IT, and teacher training.
The seminar reinforced the importance of evidence-based school guidance and multi-stakeholder collaboration. By supporting students’ readiness and providing equitable access to higher education, the program contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), promoting long-term sustainable development in West Sumatra.
