Bank Indonesia West Sumatra and Universitas Bung Hatta Hold Public Lecture on Price Stability and Food Security

Universitas Bung Hatta, in collaboration with the Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) West Sumatra, held a public lecture titled “The Role of Bank Indonesia in Maintaining Price Stability and Food Security” at Bung Hatta Convention Hall, Campus 1 Ulak Karang, on December 22, 2025.

The program contributes to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by strengthening economic resilience and food security awareness among students.

The lecture was officially opened by Vice Rector II of Universitas Bung Hatta, Dr. Fivi Anggraini, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA, who expressed appreciation to Bank Indonesia for enriching students’ economic literacy. She emphasized that universities play a strategic role in supporting balanced economic policies and strengthening community resilience through knowledge and research.

The event was attended by hundreds of students, lecturers, and university leaders. Head of BI West Sumatra Representative Office, M. Abdul Majid Ikram, outlined Bank Indonesia’s role in maintaining macroeconomic stability, particularly in controlling inflation and supporting food security initiatives.

Additional speakers included Devi Nurul Faddhila Silitonga, who elaborated on BI’s strategies in price stabilization and food resilience, Ilham Suwardi on central banking policies, and Subrini on digital payment system development and consumer protection. These topics also align with SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through the promotion of financial digitalization.

Through this public lecture, Universitas Bung Hatta reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a knowledge hub that connects academic insight with national economic priorities, while fostering collaboration in line with SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)
