Alfarizi Andrinaldi, an Indonesian Literature student from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Universitas Bung Hatta, exhibits “Surau” installation at the Belanak Community

Alfarizi Andrinaldi, a student from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Department of Indonesian Literature at Universitas Bung Hatta, participated in the Belanak Community at the West Sumatra Cultural Park Gallery in Padang City, September 4-7, 2024.

Rizi collaborated with his friend Benny Saputra to build a "Surau" installation. In the installation, Rizi and his colleagues performed typical activities at the "surau" (prayer, Quran study, lectures, community meetings, and even sleeping in the surau) and recorded several important narratives related to daily events, aesthetics, and customs. These narratives were carefully processed to reach a consensus on how the "body" should respond to the surau until the final day of the exhibition.

To celebrate the 21st anniversary, the Belanak Arts Community held an art exhibition with the theme "Homecoming." The exhibition was attended by 31 artists from various cities in Indonesia, including Padang, Bukittinggi, Palembang, Tangerang, and Yogyakarta.
