Universitas Bung Hatta TRKJ Student Team Wins First Place in “Balmon: The Guardian of Frequency” Video Competition by Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital

Students from Universitas Bung Hatta have once again achieved a remarkable accomplishment. The student team from the Computer Network Engineering Technology (TRKJ) program secured First Place in the video competition themed “Balmon: The Guardian of Frequency” during the Balmon Goes to Campus event organized by the Class II Padang Radio Frequency Spectrum Monitoring Office at The ZHM Premiere Hotel on 6 November 2025.

The event, initiated by Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) through Balmon Padang, aimed to enhance digital literacy and raise awareness among young people about the responsible management of radio frequency spectrum. The program also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through digital skills development, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) by promoting sound governance of national communication infrastructure.

The competition involved students from various universities across West Sumatra. Participants were challenged to produce creative videos—no longer than three minutes—highlighting Balmon’s role as the frontline institution safeguarding orderly radio communications in the digital era.

Awards were presented directly by the Head of Class II Balmon Padang, M. Helmi, to the winners. The Universitas Bung Hatta team was supervised by Head of the TRKJ Program, Zulfadli, S.Kom., M.Sc, and accompanied by TRKJ lecturer Ir. Arnita, MT, throughout the preparation and competition process.
