To Enhance Competence, Renewable Energy Engineering Technology Students from the Faculty of Technology and Bung Hatta University (FTI) Undertook a Field Study at PT. Supreme Energi Muara Labuh

Padang – Accompanied by the Rector of Bung Hatta University, Prof. Dr. Tafdil Husni, S.E., M.B.A., 25 students from the Renewable Energy Engineering Technology Study Program at the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Bung Hatta University, along with a delegation consisting of the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni, Dr. Ir. Hidayat, S.T., M.T., I.P.M., the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Prof. Dr. Eng. Reni Desmiarti, S.T., M.T., and the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Ayu Bidiawati J.R., S.T., M.Eng., conducted a field trip to one of the geothermal power plant industries, PT. Supreme Energy Muara Labuh (PT. SEML), on Saturday, January 6, 2024.

The field lecture titled Basics of Geothermal Energy, led by Erda Rahmilaila Desfitri, S.T., M.T., and in collaboration with practitioners from PT. SEML, marked the final series of the even semester lectures for the Renewable Energy Engineering Technology Study Program at the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Bung Hatta University.

The Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Bung Hatta University, Prof. Reni Desmiarti, stated that in addition to being part of the lecture series, the field trip was an effort to strengthen the cooperation between Bung Hatta University and PT. Supreme Energy Muara Labuh, which had been agreed upon and signed earlier.

She added that the field trip and visit by the university leadership were also attended by representatives from each study program at the Faculty of Industrial Technology, as preparation for joint lectures with practitioners from PT. SEML in seven meetings.

The Plant Manager of PT. SEML, Munggang H. Purnanto, S.T.,M.Energy, during the field lecture for students of the Renewable Energy Engineering Technology Program at the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Bung Hatta University, noted that the activity was the first field study with the largest number of students since the Covid-19 pandemic. He also explained that Indonesia aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2060, hence the government is vigorously promoting the development and growth of renewable energy.

Munggang hopes that the Renewable Energy Engineering Technology Study Program at Bung Hatta University can produce young generations and talents who will contribute to renewable energy, and further strengthen the cooperation between the university and industry.

In line with that, the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Prof. Reni Desmiarti, expressed gratitude to PT. SEML for their support since the establishment of the Renewable Energy Engineering Technology Study Program at the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Bung Hatta University. She hopes that in the future, more students can undertake internships, apprenticeships, and even work at PT. SEML.
