The Team of Japanese Literature Program Holds Tourism Community Service at Gunuang Padang

A team of Universitas Bung Hatta lecturers once again held a Sport Edutourims based on human resource empowerment activity for Gunuang Padang tourist attraction managers to strengthen hospitality, politeness, and speech acts towards sustainable tourism and the SDGs. This activity took place at the Gunuang Padang tourist attraction on September 22, 2024. This community service activity, under the Community-Based Empowerment Scheme, covers the scope of Community Partnership Empowerment, and is funded by the Directorate of Research, Technology, and Community Service, Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology for the 2024 Fiscal Year. This community service activity was chaired by Prof. Dr. Diana Kartika, with members Dr. Listiana Sri Mulatsih, S.E., MM, and Dr. The program was led by Dr. Yuni Astuti, S.Pd, M.Pd from Padang State University, and involved Japanese Literature students from Bung Hatta University, Jelita Maharani, Muhammad Fikri, and Tiara Karin. The PKM Team Leader, Prof. Dr. Diana Kartika, stated that this community service activity was the second meeting, with training and mentoring sessions to introduce the Sport Edutourism material presented by Dr. Yuni Astuti, S.Pd, M.Pd, and Bayu Haryanto, S.T.,M.Si, from the Empowerment and Development Team (TP2) of West Sumatra Tourism Villages and also Head of the Bung Hatta University Rector's Secretariat. "Gunuang Padang is one of Padang's leading tourist attractions, boasting a comprehensive array of attractions. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty, the remains of Dutch and Japanese forts, and exciting recreational and sporting activities," she said.

Dr. Yuni Astuti, S.Pd, M.Pd, explained the concept of Sport Edutourism at Gunuang Padang. This concept is a combination of sports tourism and education, which provides a unique experience for tourists through physical activities integrated with educational elements. Next, the material was delivered by Bayu Haryanto, S.T.,M.Si regarding tourism management as well as regional potential exploration using the SOWT analysis approach. Good governance is the key to optimizing tourism potential sustainably, as well as supporting the achievement of sustainable tourism targets and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). After the training and practice, the PKM Team also conducted a field review to observe the condition and atmosphere of the Gunuang Padang tourist attraction.
