PKM of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning Collaborates with UTM CRC in Flood Disaster Response in Padang
The Community Service Team (PKM) of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning, Universitas Bung Hatta, in collaboration with the UTM Construction Research Centre (UTM CRC), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, carried out a flood disaster response initiative in Batu Busuk, Padang, on December 18, 2025. The team directly distributed essential aid packages to communities affected by flash floods as part of post-disaster relief efforts.
Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning, Dr. Rini Mulyani, S.T., M.Sc., stated that the initiative reflects strong synergy between Universitas Bung Hatta and UTM CRC. Faculty members and students were actively involved on-site, delivering assistance and providing moral support to affected residents.
The distributed aid consisted of basic food supplies and daily necessities to help ease the immediate burden of the community. The assistance was handed directly to beneficiaries to ensure effective and targeted distribution.
Dr. Rini emphasized that the activity represents the implementation of the university’s Tridharma, particularly community engagement, while fostering empathy and humanitarian values among students. She added that such initiatives strengthen academic responsibility toward society.
This program aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Universitas Bung Hatta remains committed to supporting impactful higher education programs and contributing meaningfully to community resilience and environmental sustainability.
