Lecturers and Students of the Faculty of Economics and Business of Bung Hatta University Conduct Socialization of the Implementation of SAK EMKM for UMKMs in Koto Tangah
Padang, Friday, September 20, 2024 — The Community Service (PKM) Team from the Accounting Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Bung Hatta University, conducted a socialization activity on the implementation of the Financial Accounting System for Micro, Small, and Medium Entities (SAK EMKM) for MSMEs in Koto Tangah, North Padang. The activity was led by Herawati, M.SE., M.Sc., Ak., CA., and also involved lecturers and students from the Accounting Department of Bung Hatta University.
This activity aims to provide MSMEs with understanding and guidance to prepare accurate, transparent financial reports in accordance with applicable accounting standards. By implementing SAK EMKM, UMKMs can more easily manage their business finances, improve business credibility, and increase their opportunities to access financing from financial institutions. Several lecturers participated in the presentation, including Mukhlizul Hamdi, S.E.,M.Si, Ak., CA.; Resti Yulistia Muslim, S.E.,M.Si., Ak., CA.; Arie Frinola Minovia, S.E.,M.Si.; Kasman Karimi, S.E.,M.Si.; and Dr. Poppy Fauziati, S.E.,M.Si., Ak., CA. The speakers provided guidance on recording financial transactions, preparing profit-and-loss statements, and presenting financial statements in accordance with the SME Financial Accounting Standards (SAK).
Herawati, M.SE., M.Si., Ak, CA., the head of the PKM team, stated that implementing SME Financial Accounting Standards (SAK) is a crucial step for MSMEs to support healthy and sustainable business management. "With good financial record-keeping, UMKMs will more easily understand their business's financial condition and be able to make informed decisions for business development," she said.
This outreach program received an enthusiastic response from UMKMs. One participant stated that the training was very helpful in understanding how to prepare financial reports, a skill previously considered difficult.
In addition to providing direct benefits to UMKMs, this activity also provided a practical learning platform for Accounting students to apply their knowledge in the field and contribute to community economic empowerment. The Faculty of Economics and Business at Bung Hatta University is committed to continuing this empowerment program to support the growth of UMKMs in West Sumatra.
