Japanese Literature Study Program of Universitas Bung Hatta Conducts Community Service at Semen Padang Vocational High School

A Community Service (PKM) activity by the Japanese Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Bung Hatta, was held at Semen Padang Vocational High School on Saturday, November 16, 2024, with the theme "Preparing to Enter the Working World in Japan and Tryout of Japanese Language Proficiency Test N5." This PKM was chaired by Dra. Dewi Kania Izmayanti, M.Hum., and included lecturers from the Japanese Literature Study Program, Dra. Irma, M.Hum., Oslan Amril, S.S.,M.Si, and student Delfi Aulia Martiza.

The participants were Final Grade students majoring in Mechanical Engineering, participating in an internship in Japan. Team leader, Dewi stated that the Japanese workforce continues to require skilled workers from various educational levels, including vocational high school graduates. In Japan, vocational high school graduates have numerous job opportunities in various sectors with competitive salaries. This is because Japan currently lacks local talent to fill vacant positions in every company seeking workers. Therefore, Japan has many openings for vocational high school graduates.

Oslan Amril, S.S.,M.Si, Head of the Japanese Literature Study Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Bung Hatta, added that being prepared to work in Japan is a strong foundation for surviving a contractual relationship with a company. Furthermore, good social relations also contribute to a comfortable stay in Japan. The PKM program concludes with a Tryout of Japanese Language Proficiency Test N5, Oslan added.
