Heads of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Programs at Bung Hatta University Participate in IKAPROBSI 2025 National Working Meeting and International Seminar
Dr. Syofiani, M.Pd., Head of the Master’s Program in Indonesian Language and Literature Education (Pindo), and Rio Rinaldi, M.Pd., Head of the Undergraduate Pindo Program, represented Bung Hatta University at the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) and International Seminar of the Association of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Programs (IKAPROBSI) held in Malang, on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
This annual event carried the theme “Developing Creativity and Innovation in PBSI Study Programs for Strengthening Literacy and the Internationalization of the Indonesian Language” and brought together 306 participants, including heads of PBSI study programs and lecturers from universities across Indonesia.
Representing Bung Hatta University, Dr. Syofiani delivered a scientific presentation titled “Implementation of Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) Learning in Grade VI of SD Negeri 05 Kapalo Koto Padang,” co-authored with Dr. Yetty Morelent, M.Hum., and Nilam Edni Juliani.
In her presentation, Dr. Syofiani explained that the TaRL approach was applied to adjust learning to students’ actual competency levels. The study adopted a descriptive qualitative method, beginning with an initial assessment that categorized students into three levels—beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Learning activities were designed using a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model, supported by differentiated teaching modules and creative media such as “galaxy mini” crafts made from bottle caps and instructional videos via YouTube.
The use of varied formative assessments based on students’ readiness resulted in improved scores and upward movement between proficiency levels. The findings demonstrated that the TaRL approach effectively reduced learning gaps and enhanced students’ overall conceptual understanding.
Meanwhile, Rio Rinaldi and FKIP student Rinda Usmarlis presented their research titled “A Graphemic Comparison of Vocabulary from Aur Cino Village, VII Koto District, Tebo Regency, and Its Relation to Standard Indonesian.” The study revealed significant differences in the graphemic system between the local dialect and standard Indonesian, particularly in vowel and consonant sounds, word structures, and distinctive pronunciation patterns.
However, several local words exhibited morphological and structural similarities with Indonesian vocabulary, indicating strong historical and cultural connections. The research highlighted how geographical, social, and traditional factors shape linguistic diversity, enriching Indonesia’s linguistic and cultural heritage.
Prior to the seminar, the IKAPROBSI National Working Meeting discussed key strategic areas, including human resource development, quality improvement of study programs, inter-institutional collaboration, public relations, scientific publications, and university business innovation.
