Bung Hatta University to Open Double Degree Quantity Surveying Program
Bung Hatta University (UBH) plans to open a Double Degree Program in Quantity Surveying (Construction Economics Engineering) as a follow-up to the extension and strengthening of the collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
On Thursday, October 3, 2024, it was announced that the UBH delegation had visited UTM Malaysia on Sunday, September 29, 2024, to follow up on the existing agreement. The UBH delegation, led by the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni, Dr. Zulherman, S.T.,M.Sc, along with several lecturers from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning (FTSP), were warmly welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying UTM, Prof Dr Kherunita Ali, and other senior staff.
This working visit resulted in an agreement to continue and strengthen the long-standing collaboration. This strengthened cooperation will be the precursor to the opening of the Construction Economics Engineering (Quantity Surveying) study program at UBH, which will be the only one in Indonesia currently.
Vice Rector III Dr. Zulherman, S.T., M.Sc, stated that the working visit was also to reconnect the historical MoU between Quantity Surveying (Construction Economics Engineering) and the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and to solidify cooperation in areas including the Double Degree Quantity Surveying UBH, Student Exchange or Student Mobility, Research and joint publications in the field of Environmental, green/blue economics with various Faculties of both parties, as well as the planning of Ph.D. programs for UBH Lecturers pursuing further studies at UTM.
Although the Quantity Surveying (Construction Economics Engineering) Study Program at FTSP UBH is currently still a Diploma program, the strengthening of the cooperation with UTM opens up a great opportunity to immediately open the Double Degree program.
The Head of the Construction Economics Engineering Study Program, Dr. Wahyudi Putra Utama, BQS., M.T, added that before the Double Degree program is opened, the Quantity Surveying study program will first open a Bachelor's Degree (S1) program.
The profession of Quantity Surveying (QS), or Construction Economics Engineering, is very important in construction projects. They are experts in the field of development economics who ensure that project resources are utilized as efficiently and economically as possible.
