Bung Hatta University FKIP Students Join Orientation and Briefing for School Field Introduction Program (PLP)
Students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Bung Hatta University participating in the School Field Introduction Program (PLP) took part in an orientation and preparatory session held at the B3 Auditorium, Proklamator II Campus, Bypass Aia Pacah, Padang, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. The event was attended by supervising lecturers and all PLP participants.
In her remarks, Dean of FKIP Bung Hatta University, Dr. Yetty Morelent, M.Hum., emphasized that the 2025 PLP implementation represents the practical application of theoretical knowledge students have gained through MicroTeaching courses in their respective study programs. During the Odd Semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Year, FKIP students will carry out PLP at various elementary and secondary schools (SD, SMA, and SMK) in Padang for three months, from August 4 to November 1, 2025.
Dr. Yetty highlighted that the program encourages students to integrate their subject-matter expertise into real classroom practice, fostering their ability to manage learning environments and develop professional teaching competencies through direct experience.
Meanwhile, Head of the PLP Program, Dr. Hasnul Fikri, M.Pd., reported that this year’s PLP involves 237 students from multiple study programs, including Indonesian Language and Literature Education, English Education, Mathematics Education, Civic Education, Informatics and Computer Education, Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD), and Physical Education, Health, and Recreation.
The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector III, Dr. Zulherman, S.T.,M.Sc, representing the Rector of Bung Hatta University. In his speech, he noted that PLP offers students a valuable opportunity to experience real-world teaching practice, under the mentorship of supervising teachers and school principals.
“Alhamdulillah, the West Sumatra Provincial Education Office has given its full support for PLP implementation. Moreover, Bung Hatta University has partnered with several top schools to ensure students gain strong academic and teaching experiences,” he said.
As guest speakers, the session featured Suryanto, M.Pd. (Secretary of the West Sumatra Provincial Education Office), Melia Wardi, M.Pd. (Principal of SD Al-Azhar Padang), and Darwanto, S.Pd. (Vice Principal of SMA N 5 Padang). They shared insights on current educational dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and school-level operational systems, providing participants with a comprehensive overview of the teaching environment.
