Bung Hatta University Construction Economic Engineering Study Program PKM Team Holds MEP RAB Training for SMKN 5 Padang Students

The Community Partnership Program (PKM) Team from the Construction Economic Engineering (Quantity Surveying) Study Program, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Planning, Bung Hatta University, has carried out community service activities. This activity was in the form of training on the calculation of quantities and the Bill of Quantities/Budget Plan (RAB) for Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) work in multi-story buildings.

The training was given to 11th-grade students in the Building Modeling Design and Information major at SMK N 5 Padang on May 15, 2024.

Vivi Ariani, S.Pd., M.T., as the Head of the PKM Team, explained that the main objective of the training was to increase students' understanding of the importance of quantity calculation and RAB, especially for MEP work, as well as to teach them the calculation procedures in accordance with the latest Unit Price Analysis of Work (AHSP) regulated in the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Regulation (Permen PU PR) No. 1 of 2022.

The material presented included the basic principles of Quantity and RAB calculation (work volume, unit price of materials, and labor wages). The preparation of AHSP used Permen PU No. 1 of 2022.

After the material, the participants immediately practiced calculating quantities and preparing the MEP RAB for a case study of a multi-story building project, both manually and using a computer. They were accompanied by lecturers and students from Construction Economic Engineering.

Putri Ayu Dwiyana, S.Pd., M.T., Head of the Computer Laboratory for Building Modeling Design and Information at SMKN 5 Padang, welcomed and appreciated this activity. She mentioned that this training was very much needed because previously students were only taught MEP calculation and RAB preparation manually, not yet using tools or the latest AHSP regulations. She hopes that this knowledge-sharing activity can continue in the future.
